When a project takes up so much time and effort, and you still harbor insecurities about whether readers would enjoy it, it's wonderful to receive such validation. I've always believed that the harder a writer works on their prose, the easier it is for the reader to revel in. Trust the reader, but don't overburden them with demands. Only repeated line-by-line editing and crafting can achieve that if, like me, you lack the superpowers of the incredible authors I've read but could never imitate.

Dudas is a voracious reader, formally trained in literature, with a lot of critical feedback on recent releases. I was fortunate that Careful Readers caught his eye.
